Solo & Ensemble Contest 2021

To participate in S&E Contest, follow these steps.

  1. By October 15. Join NIMCon by registering your School.
  2. By February 1. Register S&E Events and Pay Student Fees.
  3. By April 15. Submit all recordings to NIMCon.
    • Complete one S&E Event Entry Form for each event (link to comesee example form). You will not be able to edit your entry on your own once you submit.
      • Submit your students’ sheet music (pdf only).
      • Submit the Google link to your students’ recording. Be sure to change the Share Setting to “anyone with the link can view.”
      • Directors are responsible for receiving permission to share the student(s) video with the NIMCon Board of Directors and Adjudicators.
      • Video is required for solos. Accompaniment is optional.
      • Video is preferred for ensembles. Ensembles using digital technology to combine their performances may submit audio.
      • Check that all of your events are submitted. (link to come)
  4. By May 1. Receive results from NIMCon.

Summary of your Discussion at the September Membership Meeting.

Here is a summary of what we discussed at our September Membership Meeting and voted on.
  1. We will run a virtual Solo and Ensemble Contest. Registration fees will be due February 1, 2021. (instead of December 1)
  2. Directors will submit videos of student performances along with a pdf/picture of music by April 15th.
  3. Solos and ensembles will be accepted. All accompaniment will be optional and there will be no clavinova fee.
  4. Ensembles may submit a video of students playing together, or submit audio with students using programs such as audacity or garage band. (More info to come) We want to be flexible to the needs of students learning remotely.
  5. Judges will be given approximately a week to view performances and submit comments using the rubric.
  6. A board member will deliver medals to directors.

  • I have two questions about solo contest registration—-
    1. what is the per/student fee this year that we will be sending in by the Feb. 1 deadline?

    2. It looks like medals are optional to purchase—do we indicate our desire for getting medals when we register or later on and what is the cost/medal?

    I need this information before I can send information out to our students to register. Thank you
