Newsletter (May 2019)

Thank you for another successful year!

The board of directors would like to thank all of you for your active participation this year and for continuing to help make NIMCon the best organization it can be! We are thrilled with the positive feedback we have received, and we look forward to starting our fifth year in August!

Thank you to all of the contest hosts – Palombi MS, Hawthorn MS South, and West Oak – for enabling us to have a successful year. Your hard work is appreciated!

Thank you to our Treasurer

Thank you to Sara Roediger for serving as treasurer for the past two years. Sara has resigned effective June 1, 2019, as she takes on more responsibilities in her job. The board of directors has appointed Sara Kumpala take on the role as Interim Treasurer to finish Sara R’s term. We are excited to have her join the board!

2020 Event Dates

We are still looking for a host for Jazz Festival. Please let us know if you are interested. You do not have to have a jazz band in order to host. This is an easy site to host as there are only a small number of groups attending and one performance room. Not a lot of space is needed since jazz bands are small.

Fall Membership Meeting

The fall membership meeting will be held on Monday, September 16th @ Lake Zurich MS North at 7:00 PM, with dinner at 6:15 PM. Please plan to attend. We will be sending out information about NIMCon to other directors in the area who are not yet members. If you have names of specific directors you would like us to contact, please send us their names.

Nominations for 2019-2020 Board of Directors

If you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors for next school year or would like to nominate a colleague, please contact Ellen Singer, NIMCon President by May 31st.

Music Festival Etiquette

Please remind your students to respect the spaces we are using for Music Festival, especially the homerooms that belong to non-music teachers who might not be thrilled that we are in their rooms. Please check the rooms before you leave to make sure they are in the same condition that you found them and report any issues immediately to the host before you leave. In addition, please respect the hosts’ instructions throughout the day. We are all in this together! If we want to have schools to host Contest and Festival, then we have to have happy hosts.
