NIMCon is excited to participate in the Illinois Music Educator’s Conference (IMEC) this year in Peoria! We hope you’ll stop by our booth in the exhibition hall. Ellen and Jim would love to hear from you and tell you more about the performance opportunities we provide for you and your students (see below).
Solo & Ensemble Contest (February)
Students perform as a soloist or in a small ensemble. Feedback is provided in a short clinic by an esteemed music educator who also provides written feedback on the NIMCon Rubric which aligns with the National Standards. Students also earn medals for their performance.
Music Festival (March)
Band, Orchestra, and Choir Ensembles perform for a panel of three adjudicators who provide written and live recorded feedback on a rubric aligned with the National Standards. Following the performance, the ensemble receives a short clinic with one or more of the adjudicators. Students receive medals for their performance.
Jazz Festival (March)
A festival dedicated specifically to Jazz Ensembles provides an opportunity for students to perform for a panel of adjudicators who provide written and live recorded feedback using the NIMCon Rubric. Following the performance, the ensemble receives a short clinic with one or more of the adjudicators. Students receive medals for their performance.
Art Hildebrand Music Invitational (March)
Band and Orchestra Ensembles perform for a clinician without the pressure of competition. It is designed for young ensembles or ensembles that don’t meet frequently.
